Pacifica joined Caravan in March of 2016. Pacifica was built in Olympia, Washington by nationally known and highly respected tiny house builder, Abel Zyl, of Zyl Vardos. http://www.zylvardos.com/
Pacifica has a very unusual design for a tiny house on wheels. It is built on a 10ft. wide single axle trailer and is designed to be universally accessible to accommodate those who use a wheelchair for mobility.
The billowing and undulating roofline and the concentric arcs of the cedar-shingled exterior reminds us of ocean waves. The name Pacifica, a nod to our west coast ocean, embodies all of these architectural characteristics.

The best place for ADU related updates is AccessoryDwellings.org. But, here’s a few quick tidbits for those who care about ADUs or have been considering building one.
Portland City Council is considering extending the SDC waiver for ADUs. Please reach out Portland’s City Council to show your support for an SDC waiver extension.
Kol Peterson, one of Caravan’s owners, is writing a book about ADUs. It’s going to be the authoritative work on the ADU development process for homeowners, and ADU policy for wonks. We’ll be describing this effort more in upcoming posts, but just wanted to give you a heads up about it.
There won’t be an ADU Tour this spring—but, we’re planning to run another big city wide tour of ADUs in Portland in the spring of 2017.
